About
The Wetaskiwin Theatre Society is located in and operates out of the Manluk theatre which opened its doors in 2006 to offer a wide variety of performing arts to Wetaskiwin and area. The theatre is located in Wetaskiwin's historic first electric plant building which was built in 1905.
We are a not-for-profit community-supported theatre society committed to serving the artistic and cultural needs of the Wetaskiwin area and we rely on donations to keep the Wetaskiwin Theatre Society successful. Tickets sales only cover a percentage of what it costs to run the Manluk theatre, the rest comes from the generosity of community supporters!! As a Registered Charity, donations entitles people to a Tax-Deductible Receipt.
Wetaskiwin Theatre Society hosts a great variety of performing arts. Our community theatre troupe, the Waterworks Players, typically produces 3 plays per season. We further host touring musicians, school dramatics and musical productions, dance recitals, private bookings and private as well as group tours of our Historic building. We also host Open Mic every third Saturday every month.
Our unique facility is available for rents either daily or weekly by performing art organizations or companies, concert promoters and fundraisers. It can also be used for business meetings, weddings as well as other celebrations, both public and private for a variety of special presentations. The Theatre auditorium accommodates 153 people and the Front meeting room accommodates 50 people seated or 80 people standing. Screen projector in stage and in Front meeting room.
