Full job description

Reporting to the Supportive Living Manager, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the overall recreation, social, cultural and well-being activities for the lodge residents. This will involve providing strong leadership and organizational skills to the development and implementation of a wide range of senior's programs and activities. The Recreation Coordinator will establish good public relations, within the lodge and the community at large. The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for the recruiting and maintaining of a robust Volunteer Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Applicable post-secondary.

2. Experience working with seniors including an understanding of motivation concepts with seniors.

3. Financial planning and budgeting skills.

4. Strong leadership and organizational skills.

5. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

6. Ability to work closely and effectively with seniors, volunteers and community groups.

7. Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, demonstrate initiative.

8. Intermediate knowledge/skills in computer/keyboarding and Microsoft Office.

9. Emergency First Aid Certificate.

10. Possess a valid class 4 driver’s license and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.

11. Satisfactory Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plan and co-ordinate a holistic approach recreation program (spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, psychological).

2. An active member of the Leadership team of Planeview Lodge.

3. Establish and maintain good public relations with family members, volunteers, staff and community service groups.

4. Working closely with the Corporate Services Manager develop and maintain a robust Volunteer Program.

5. Working with Fundraising initiatives as required.

9. Promote Health & Safety awareness:

· participate in all aspects of the Health & Safety Program.

· perform hazard assessments and use safe work practices.

· report any injury, near miss, unsafe condition or unsafe act to your supervisor immediately.

· make safety suggestions.

· set a good example.

11. Performing other duties as assigned.

All employees will be required to have a pre-employment fit to work assessment, a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector check.
