The Shop Lead (Fluids & Auxiliary Systems) is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the installation and integration of all fluid and auxiliary systems.

This position manages S5 and S6 kit activities along with S0E/S0E-DL/S0F/S0F-FGAS delta work, ensuring precise assembly and testing of exhaust/platform modules, intake cabinets, fuel, lube, urea, and SCR systems.

The Shop Lead also installs fire and gas (F&G) sensors, performs grounding checks (≤1Ω), conducts leak checks, and manages hose kit installations.

This role requires expertise in mechanical assembly, fluid system integration, and hydrostatic testing, as well as proficiency with specialized tooling such as pipe stands, hose crimp/clean benches, hydro hand-pumps, and nitrogen gauge sets.

Acting as a hands-on leader, the Shop Lead ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, mentors’ technicians, and collaborates with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical challenges.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the installation of exhaust and platform modules, intake cabinets, and associated structural components.
  • Oversee the assembly and integration of fuel, lube, urea, and SCR systems, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards.
  • Install fire and gas (F&G) sensors and verify grounding resistance ≤1Ω for electrical bonding integrity.
  • Perform leak checks on all fluid connections to ensure system integrity.
  • Manage hose kit installations, including crimping, cleaning, and routing hoses according to traveler instructions.
  • Ensure proper fit-up and securement of short exhaust sections and auxiliary piping.
  • Complete S0E/S0E-DL/S0F/S0F-FGAS tasks, including:
  • Installing platforms, doors, ladders, FG & LH skids, SCR/urea modules.
  • Hydro-testing roof fire spools on-bay using hydro hand-pump and nitrogen gauge set.
  • Preparing and staging hose kits for downstream bays.
  • Conduct hydrostatic pressure tests on fire-roof spools and fluid systems to verify leak-free performance.
  • Document all test results and traveler updates for compliance and traceability.
  • Ensure grounding and bonding checks meet electrical safety standards.
  • Safely operate and maintain specialized tools and fixtures:
  • Pipe stands for system alignment.
  • Hose crimp/clean benches for hose preparation.
  • Hydro hand-pumps and nitrogen gauge sets for pressure testing.
  • Verify calibration and readiness of all testing equipment.
  • Act as a hands-on leader, mentoring technicians on fluid system assembly, hose handling, and hydro-testing best practices.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to production schedules.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Enforce OHS and company safety standards, including PPE usage and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Conduct pre-task safety checks and ensure proper handling of pressurized systems.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.
  • Work closely with Engineering for technical clarifications and design adjustments.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance for inspections and traveler sign-offs.
  • Communicate with Operations and Supply Chain teams regarding material availability and workflow priorities.
  • Maintain accurate traveler documentation for all fluid system work performed.
  • Report progress, issues, and resource needs to Operations and Manufacturing Management.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews by providing detailed records of assembly and testing activities.

What you'll bring?

  • 5+ years in mechanical assembly or fluid system integration in heavy industrial environments
  • 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in: Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Fluid Systems or related field
  • Forklift Operation Certification
  • NCCER Mechanical Assembly or Pipefitting Certification
  • Hydrostatic Testing Training
  • Hose Crimping & Handling Certification
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Green Belt)
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and piping schematics
  • Experience with turbine packaging or power generation systems
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for traveler initiation
  • Previous mentoring or training of technicians

Safety Requirements, Physical Demands

  • Adhere to all TURBINE-X Energy HSE policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Participation in safety training programs, including hazard communication, emergency response, and travel safety.
  • Ensure all sales team members are trained on site-specific safety protocols when visiting customer facilities or field operations.
  • Participate in any required drug and alcohol testing. This position is considered safety sensitive.
  • Understand and comply with the X-Group's safety polices, safe work pos, protocols, procedures, and rules.
  • Wear required safety equipment and personal protective devices, including clothing mandated by legislation and the employer.
  • Ensure the worksites is free of hazards that could cause slips, trips, or falls.
  • Notify supervisors of any unsafe conditions or acts that may endanger workers.
  • Report all accidents and Injuries to supervisors es soon as possible.
  • Take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of other workers and oneself.
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License and a clean driver's abstract.
  • Maintain a valid passport and can travel internationally as required.
  • Maintain a clean criminal background check.
  • Prolong periods of standing and walking throughout the shop floor
  • Ability to life and carry components and tools up to 50lbs regularly
