The opportunity

Leduc County is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Light Equipment Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Agricultural Services Coordinator, this exciting opportunity maintains and operates roadside vegetation equipment and machinery. As a member of the Agricultural Services team, the Light Equipment Operator is a key contributor to the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables.

What you will do

  • Contribute to the operation of the department’s agricultural programs by performing work such as:
    • Picking garbage from ditches to ensure safe and convenient mowing, along with clean roadways.
    • Prepare various equipment and machinery for the season by inspecting and completing yearly maintenance.  
    • Mowing grass with tractors that are connected to 15-foot batwing mowers.
    • Mowing grass with a small tractor that focuses on locations that require more precision. 
    • Servicing mowers daily.
    • Recording by GPS to what areas have been completed.
  • Adhere to guidelines as set out in Leduc County’s policies and administrative directives.
  • Accountable for working in compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and participation in the Health, Safety and Wellness Program.
  • Perform related duties as required and assigned.

What you need to succeed

Must-have

A high school diploma supplemented with a minimum one (1) year of experience in light equipment and machinery operation and maintenance and a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license.

Nice to have

An agricultural background and/or experience, basic knowledge and experience with hand and power tools, previous experience operating a tractor and batwing mower, and experience with operating a chainsaw are assets.

We offer a competitive hourly salary of between $19.43 - $24.99. This opportunity is seasonal full-time, 40 hours per week. Hours of work may vary to meet operational requirements. 

The office is located at 101-1101 5 St. Nisku, AB.
