Kitimakehtowin Friendship Centre Coordinator - (Wetaskiwin)
Reports to: Community Wellness Manager/ Administrative Assistant
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Client assessment and case management to support individuals.
• Workshop facilitation
- Develop workshops on topics such as employment skills, substance abuse and
crisis intervention
• Liaising with community partners and health care providers
• Program development & implementation
- Design and implement life skills, social service, and community support programs
- Offer client support & Case management
- Make referrals and facilitate access to resources
• Community and stakeholder engagement
- Liaise with other agencies, health care providers, government bodies, and
community members.
• Advocacy & Crisis intervention
- Provide access and referral to crisis intervention services with the center and/or
Wetaskiwin and advocate on behalf of clients.
• Review reports and track participant progress with programs and interventions
• Ensure accurate records are maintained and monthly reports.
• Training in areas like conflict resolution, crisis intervention, harm reduction, or
mental health first aid.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills. A passion for
supporting vulnerable individuals and a trauma-informed approach are often
preferred.
EDUCATION:
➔ Proven experience working with vulnerable populations, including those who mental
health challenges. addictions. and those experiencing homelessness.
➔ University degree or diploma in social work, human services, or two years of minimum
related experience
➔ Familiar with issues and factors affecting the community and an ability/awareness of the
community resources and agencies that can be accessed and referred to
➔ Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and strong computer skills,
➔ Knowledge of database systems
