Duties and responsibilities:
- Understanding of oil/gas processes, operation of pumps, control panels, and specialized equipment.
- On-site operations (pumping, testing, monitoring)
- Requiring physical fitness.
- Certifications like H2S Alive and WHMIS, TDG, First Aid.
- Must be willing to take the necessary training.
- Install and maintain cathodic protection to prevent corrosion in steel and aluminum lines.
- Equipment operation such as driving trucks to sites, setting up pumps/hoses, operating hydraulic systems, controlling hoisting machinery, and maintaining drilling service rigs.
- Carry out routine gas system maintenance functions
- Operate and maintain regulating, measuring and odorizing facilities.
- Well servicing such as pumping fluids into wells to stimulate production, adjusting procedures based on real-time readings (pressure, density)
- Monitoring and recording such as reading gauges, monitoring control panels, taking samples, and preparing reports on operations
- Servicing and maintaining equipment, performing minor repairs, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Conducting pre-job safety meetings, following strict procedures, managing hazardous materials, and responding to emergencies
- Use computers to keep records of work performed and the location and condition of pipelines.
- Attention to detail, teamwork, problem-solving, physical strength, and ability to work independently
Qualifications:
- Must be willing to take the necessary training.
- Able to operate heavy equipment.
- Gas Well Operators both work indoors and outdoors at physically demanding tasks.
- Gas Well Operators often work with explosive gases and power tools. To avoid injury, operators must follow safety codes and regulations and during emergency situations, follow the specified instructions.
- May be required to lift items over 25 kilograms.
- Have grade 12 education.
- Ability to work with little direction or no supervision.
- Must be willing to work weekends and after hours.
- Possess Class 5 Drivers License, vehicle and good driving record (provide drivers abstract)
