BDS Heavy Haul is a premier heavy haul and specialized transportation provider operating across North America. Founded in 1978, we’ve grown from one truck into a highly specialized fleet supporting complex and oversized transportation projects. We are currently seeking a highly organized and driven Fleet Maintenance Coordinator to support our fleet shop in Acheson, Alberta.
This role is critical to keeping our equipment moving safely, efficiently, and profitably. You will be the central point of coordination between operations, drivers, and the shop—ensuring maintenance is planned, tracked, and executed with precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule all preventative maintenance and repairs for tractors, trailers, and support equipment
- Create, manage, and track work orders
- Administer, issue, and receive purchase orders for parts, services, and repairs
- Order parts and materials required for repairs and preventative maintenance & repairs
- Call suppliers and service providers to source parts and services
- Price-check across vendors to ensure best value and availability
- Verify pricing, quantities, and delivery timelines with vendors
- Ensure all purchase orders are properly tracked, approved, and reconciled
- Work with accounting to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate cost records
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with parts vendors and service partners
- Communicate with drivers, dispatch, and shop staff regarding equipment status and downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation
- Track service intervals, inspections, and regulatory requirements
- Assist in parts sourcing and inventory coordination
- Support shop workflow planning and prioritize jobs based on operational needs
- Identify trends in repairs and help improve fleet reliability and cost control
Qualifications
- Experience in fleet maintenance coordination, trucking, or heavy equipment environments
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment
- Proficient with computers and maintenance or fleet management software
- Mechanical knowledge is a strong asset
- Previous experience in transportation, heavy haul, or logistics is preferred
