Distribution/Warehouse Laborer - Leduc

The Leduc & District Food Bank is seeking an energetic, reliable, and adaptable Warehouse Laborer to join our team. This position works in a busy distribution and warehouse environment and requires someone who can work both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision, in an ever-changing setting to meet the needs of our clients and team members.


Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload stock, including food, dry goods, and other donated items
  • Sort, inspect, shelve, rotate, and organize inventory according to FIFO practices
  • Pick and stage orders for agency distribution and client hampers
  • Maintain, organize, and manage stock in the warehouse, freezer, and cooler as required
  • Conduct basic inventory counts and report discrepancies
  • Assist with receiving, labeling, and documentation of donated goods
  • Operate Food Bank vehicles for pickups and deliveries
  • Perform basic forklift and pallet jack operations
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including snow removal from doors and drive areas
  • Follow all warehouse safety procedures, food safety standards, and safe lifting practices
  • Follow directions as required by the Executive Director and other senior staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor


Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Recent experience working in a distribution, warehouse, or logistics environment
  • Experience handling food products and donated goods in a regulated environment is an asset
  • Forklift certification and experience operating pallet jacks are assets
  • First Aid certification is an asset
  • Basic understanding of food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing daily workloads
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day
  • Working knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with staff, volunteers, and clients
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check and Driver’s Abstract
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
