Community Health Promotion Coordinator - Maskwacis


Roles & Responsibilities

    Develop, coordinate, and deliver community health promotion and wellness programs for youth and community members.

    Plan and facilitate workshops and activities focused on mental wellness, healthy lifestyles, substance use prevention, nutrition, life skills, and community wellness.

    Support youth through positive engagement, mentorship, and health education initiatives.

    Incorporate Indigenous culture, traditions, language, Elders' teachings, and land-based activities into programming whenever appropriate.

    Work collaboratively with community health professionals, schools, Elders, and partner organizations to identify community needs and support wellness initiatives.

    Assist with plaiming and coordinating community events, awareness campaigns, and educational activities.

    Seek funding opportunities and assist with grant applications that support community health and youth programming.

    Prepare monthly reports outlining program activities, participation, outcomes, and recommendations.

    Meet regularly with the Director to review program progress and upcoming initiatives.

    Work closely with the Program Coordinator and other Youth & Sp01ts Development staff to support youth programming and special events.

    Maintain a clean, safe, and organized weight room by ensuring all fitness equipment is cleaned and sanitized daily, floors, mirrors, and windows are kept clean, and supplies such as sanitizer and cleaning materials ai·e stocked.

    Report damaged or unsafe equipment to the Director and assist in maintaining a safe environment for all users.

    Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

    Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

    Diploma or degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Recreation, Addictions Counselling, Kinesiology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience developing and delivering community-based health promotion or youth programs.

    Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous culture, traditions, and holistic approaches to community wellness.

    Strong communication, organizational, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

    Experience working with youth and Indigenous communities is considered an asset.

    Youth Addictions training or experience in substance use prevention is considered a strong asset.
