The Position:

The County of Wetaskiwin No. 10 is seeking to employ one (1) full-time permanent Class 1 Truck Driver based out of the Wetaskiwin Shop. Reporting the Operations Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operation of heavy duty trucks in the haul of gravel, sand and other construction materials, operation of snowplow and other general maintenance duties throughout the County of Wetaskiwin.

Hours of work are typically Monday to Friday, with a 10-hour workday commencing at 7:00 a.m., or as required. This is a moderately physically demanding position, and the candidate will need to be physically fit in order to undertake various activities that include lifting and strenuous work at times.

Required Skills:

 Hold a valid Class 1 operator’s license with a clean drivers abstract.

 Have a minimum of 5 years work experience as a Class 1 Driver in the transport of aggregates, soils and other construction materials. Proficient in loading trucks.

 Have the skills to spread gravel at various rates.

 Experience in snowplowing roads.

 Demonstrate an aptitude for equipment maintenance and care.

 Knowledge in the loading and hauling of equipment for transport to various work sites is considered an asset.

 Be a self-starter and team player. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

 Be physically fit to meet the demands of operating various tools and equipment and working outdoors in extreme conditions.

 Participate and actively promote the County’s safe work practices and procedures and commit to delivering quality workmanship and efficiency.

The County of Wetaskiwin offers a strong corporate culture with the salary to be in accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers Collective Agreement with an hourly wage ranging from $33.55 to $37.28, depending on experience.
