Barista and Order Fulfilment Assistant
Alternate Route Coffee Co is looking for a part-time Barista and Order Fulfilment Assistant to assist with serving coffee, order fulfilment, and customer service. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of procedures and logistics with a proven history in customer service. Barista or other coffee experience is considered an asset.
Job Tasks & Responsibilities
Operations & Production
- Assist with production and operations rolls including but not limited to; quality control tasting, packaging and labeling coffee, stock management and assisting with coffee roasting as required
- Order fulfilment including but not limited to; order intake from website and email, packaging for shipment via couriers, processing shipping labels, invoicing and delivery to customers
- Help with development of formal production processes to increase efficiency, ensure compliance and ease of duplication
- Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance
Barista & Customer Service
- Assist with in-store sales and customer service support
- Serve customers at the espresso bar
Events
- Assist with tasting room events, with the possibility for advancing into facilitating and running events
- Assistance with coffee cart events including event preparation, transport, event set up and take down, brewing and serving coffee
Safety Audits & Inspections
- Ensure monthly inspections are completed, and any necessary adjustments and issues are resolved or brought to the attention of management
Required Skills, Experience, & Abilities
- A passion for the world of specialty coffee and a desire to further your knowledge in the industry
- Community-minded and aware, familiar with local events and organizations, ability to make local connections, and build relationships
- You understand and agree to work with the same values as Alternate Route Coffee
- Due to bona fide working requirements, this position is subject to the ‘Alternate Route Coffee Co. Fit for Work Policy’ , the ability to safely lift 50lbs and work on your feet for long periods of time is 90% of the role.
- Alternate Route Coffee Co. Policies will be provided to successful candidate during an employment offer
- Strong understanding or ability to learn various computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel, website portals, online shipping platforms, printing, etc.
- Strong organization and attention to detail skills are a must
- Experience in Sales and Customer Service is considered an asset and necessary for the higher compensation
- Barista and/or previous coffee work experience is considered an asset and necessary for the higher compensation
- Wage to commensurate with professional experience
- Room to grow and expand responsibilities and compensation. Benefits are available if the employee was to consistently working over 30 hours. At this current time, the applicant does not qualify for benefits with a 26-30 hour/week range
- Shifts are 2-3 days a week (Monday-Thursday) and potential for weekend events.
- Work must be conducted in-person only and is located near the Edmonton International Airport at 3655 44 Ave E. Edmonton International Airport AB
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
