Overview
Join our dynamic finance team as an Assistant Controller and play a pivotal role in steering our organization’s financial integrity and strategic growth. This energetic position offers the opportunity to lead critical accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support financial decision-making processes. As an integral part of our leadership team, you will drive excellence in financial reporting, manage complex accounting operations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant standards, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage general ledger accounting, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of internal controls related to SOX compliance and other regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
  • Oversee cash management activities, including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and banking relationships.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, analysis, and commentary to support management decision-making and regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to facilitate smooth review processes.
  • Support budgeting processes by analyzing variances, forecasting future financial performance, and assisting in strategic planning initiatives.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms to streamline operations and enhance data accuracy.
  • Overseeing and executing Payroll functions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in accounting roles with a focus on corporate operational accounting preferably in the wholesale food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, IFRS standards, Government compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting procedures.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting topics such as double entry bookkeeping, financial concepts, and account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage. Knowledge of Netsuite/Oracle is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
  • Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes and cash flow forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting processes and financial analysis techniques.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $71,035.99-$80,000.00 per year
