JOB DESCRIPTION

To assist Food Banks Alberta in the receiving, distribution and transportation of food throughout the provincial network.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is a full-time permanent position with 35 hours/week - Monday to Friday.

All basic office equipment (laptop, printer), and all office supplies will be provided.

Vacation: 3 weeks

Reporting to the Warehouse and Logistics Manager and working cooperatively with the other FBA staff.

WAREHOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to Day Warehouse Operations

Maintain safe, healthy, efficient and effective warehouse operation. Following all safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Warehouse cleaning and general maintenance

Ensure all FBA product is stored, distributed, and rotated in compliance with health and safety standards, in an efficient manner. Inspecting products for damage or defects and reporting any issues to supervisors.

Load and unload products/pallets from shipment trucks; organize and store appropriately, using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery

Pick, pack, wrap and label orders for member food banks

Coordinate the shipment/pick up of pallets with other FBA staff


Food Donations

  • Receive, weigh, label, record, and store all incoming shipments
  • Perform monthly inventory counts and maintain accurate information regarding quantity and quality of products

Support and Contribute to Warehouse Safety

Oversee volunteers and volunteer groups when on site to ensure compliance with FBA heath, safety and operations policies and procedures

Ensure warehouse operations, processes and procedures are followed and completed in a safe manner by all.



DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Driving and Delivery:
  • Transporting goods to various locations, ensuring timely and safe delivery.

Planning efficient delivery routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.

  • Communicating with customers to confirm delivery times and obtain signatures for delivered goods.
  • Keeping accurate records of deliveries, including delivery notes and any discrepancies.

  • Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Performing regular checks on the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, including oil changes, tire checks, and cleaning.
  • Informing supervisor immediately of an vehicle safety or maintenance concerns requiring attention.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Forklift Training - will be provided if necessary
  • Valid class 5 license and clean driver abstract provided immediately. Experience in driving in winter conditions.
  • Computer literacy - some knowledge of Office software and ability to learn/use inventory control system
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build relationships and work in a team environment
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service on the phone, in emails and in person
  • Physical ability to lift 45 lbs on a regular basis and be on your feet for 3 hours at a time
  • Keen ability to work independently, show initiative and take ownership of work
  • Polite, courteous, and positive attitude. You would serve a diverse membership in the charity and non-profit community
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; detail-oriented
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and workload, based on frequently changing needs
