What we’re looking for:
The Wetaskiwin Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic, community-minded individual to join our team for the summer. As a Summer Program Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting and delivering engaging library programs and services for all ages. We're seeking someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable with technology, and is passionate about creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging library programs.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants.
- Support patrons with basic technology help and digital literacy.
- Provide excellent customer service and help with library services.
- Promote library programs and resources to the community.
- Collaborate with staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Current High School or Post Secondary Student
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Enthusiasm, curiosity, and exceptional customer service skills.
- Knowledge and high level of comfort with technology troubleshooting to assist patrons with devices, databases, e-resources and various applications and web-based platforms.
- Able to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Effective and creative troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, Google Suite, web-based services, and other applications.
Physical Requirements:
Library Assistant positions include frequent standing, walking, and bending, lifting to 35 lbs., reaching to place materials on shelves, and pushing and pulling book carts.
Employment Terms:
This is a temporary position for two months. The position start date is June 30th and the end date is August 29th.
Hours: 35 hours/week. The schedule will be varied and include evening and weekend availability.
Salary: $19.60/ Hour
