Structural Engineer - Devon
Rus-Tec Engineering is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (P. Eng) to join our team on a full-time basis.
The ideal candidate is a team player who can lead and oversee the planning, design and execution of structural engineering projects. Applicants must have strong organizational skills with experience applicable to structural design and detailing of commercial, residential, institutional and light industrial buildings. This role will involve a variety of design, project management, and field work related to commercial, industrial, and residential building projects.
Duties
- Create, review, and manage new designs, reports, and documentation that comply with acceptable standards and design codes
- Interpret external engineering documents, standards, and code for internal use
- Take accountability for quality of service and profitability on assigned structural engineering projects
- Accurately follow specifications outlined in proposed projects and ensure overall production goals and requirements are achieved
- Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to junior structural engineers and design team
- Project management including consultation, field support, and client satisfaction
Experience
- APEGA Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
- 5-10 years structural engineering experience
- Expert in all relevant Canadian building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (CSA, NBCC, etc.)
- Proficient understanding of steel, concrete and wood construction
- Experience designing multi-family residential buildings in steel
- Timber-frame design experience considered an asset
- Competency in various modelling and analysis software, including AutoCAD, Inventor, SAFI, S-FRAME, RISA, STAAD, ETABS, etc.
- Experience with finite-element programs (e.g., Ansys) considered an asset
- Experience directing the preparation of structural design drawing packages including structural plans, sections and details, foundation plans, etc.
- Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment.
- Confidence in leading a project or team
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Alberta Canada (incl. remote areas)
