Wetaskiwin Co-op and Country Junction Feeds is now accepting applications for the 20-month term, full-time position of Quality Control Technician in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Reporting to the Feed Division Manager, this critical role ensures the quality and safety of our feed products throughout the entire production process, as well as supporting a variety of departments, locations, and initiatives.

Wetaskiwin Co-op is located in central Alberta operating in 9 locations in 5 communities of Wetaskiwin, Innisfail, Camrose, Edmonton and Falun. We operate in a variety of product lines including consumer hardware, building products, crop inputs, petroleum, liquor and feed manufacturing. Areas of responsibility:
- Oversee all quality control activities, including raw material inspection, in-process testing, finished product analysis, and packaging quality.
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and other departments to ensure quality standards are met.
- Conduct regular audits of the facilities and processes to ensure compliance with the quality management system and identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate and resolve quality deviations and customer complaints, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, inspection reports including housekeeping audits and pest control reports, and other related documentation, in paper and electronically.
- Stay current with industry regulations, best practices, and new technologies related to feed quality and safety.
- Regularly bending and twisting lifting up to 55 pounds.
Who you are:
- You posses are willing to learn feed manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and regulatory requirements. Previous experience would be considered an asset but not essential. (e.g., CFIA, HACCP)
- You have experience with laboratory testing procedures and equipment.
- You have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- You believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of colleagues, suppliers and customers.
- Ability to organize and effectively prioritize tasks respectful of deadlines, with an ability to work under pressure and work with integrity.
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is considered an asset.
