Role Description:

Fence Installers will play a pivotal role in assisting us with chain link fence installation and gate manufacturing. We work per OHS standards and follow the Canadian General Standards Council of Canada CAN/CGSB-138.3-2019 for chain link fence installation.  This position requires a task-oriented professional capable of working independently and with a team while adhering to safety guidelines and collaborating with senior management. Most of our work is done outdoors and may result in exposure to rain, snow, and extreme heat or cold temperatures.

Key Responsibilities:

● Complete mandatory safety courses

● Participate in the Kustom Contracting Ltd. HSE Program

● Assisting with installation of posts, mesh material, gates, privacy slats, and barbed wire.

● Digging post holes (by hand and using powered augers).

● Heavy lifting/pushing a wheelbarrow

● Loading and unloading equipment, materials, and tools for transport to the job site.

● Work with hand tools and power tools.

● Mixing cement (by hand and using a mixing machine).

● Tidying the shop/yard.

Qualifications:

● CSTS and WHMIS TRAINING is mandatory. Ground Disturbance Level II and First Aid Training would be considered an asset but are not required.

● Installers walk long distances or stand for long periods while working. They may also be required to kneel, stand, walk, and use a step ladder. Installers will also be required to lift and carry 55 lbs of ready-mixed cement (on smaller projects).

● Installers may need to make quick decisions, solve unexpected problems, read or write, and interpret data. Mental stamina and drive will be needed to accomplish tasks and perform one job for long periods.

● Previous experience using power tools (i.e., impactor, reciprocating saw, angle grinder, circular saw, drill press, powered auger) would be considered an asset but is not required.

● The ability to read and understand site plans and map data regarding buried utilities (willing to train).

PPE Requirements:

• 6” CSA-approved safety boots (complete with steel toe or composite toe)
• Gloves – leather and regular (snug fitting is best)
• Safety Glasses (clear and smoked)
• High visibility vest
• CSA-approved hard hat
• Special PPE will be provided by KCL as needed.

*In addition to PPE, the following attire is recommended for outdoor work.

• Weather-appropriate clothing. 
• Long sleeved shirt/ full length pants.

Driver’s License & Transportation Requirements: 

A driver’s license is required for this position. Installers report for duty to our shop and then are transported to the work site. *A driver’s abstract will be requested to drive/operate company vehicles.
