Community Engagement Assistant – Summer Job Grant Position

About Us:
The Leduc Downtown Business Association (LDBA), Leduc and District Historic Society (LDHS), Alberta Legacy Development Society (ALDS) are dedicated to fostering a vibrant, prosperous, and welcoming downtown for residents, businesses, and visitors. We work with local merchants, organize events, promote tourism, and advocate for business interests in the downtown core.
Position Overview:
Full time (35 hours per week)
The Executive Director will oversee the Community Engagement Assistant and support the LDBA, LDHS, ALDS in executing summer programs and events, promoting local businesses, and enhancing the downtown visitor experience. This role is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, urban planning, or event coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and executing community events, markets, and festivals.
- Engage with the public and provide information about downtown activities and attractions.
- Conduct business outreach and collect feedback from LDBA member businesses.
- Assist with setting up and taking down event materials (tents, signage, booths, etc.).
- Support administrative duties such as data entry, scheduling, and communication instructed by the Executive Director.
To be eligible:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment** and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Qualifications:
- Must be a full-time student returning to school in the fall.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working outdoors and on your feet during events.
- Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) is an asset.
- Familiarity with Leduc’s downtown area is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
