Job Description - Board Director

 

Leduc LINX Connect Centre Board of Directors act as the primary strategic and governance agents for the physical and operational Leduc LINX Connect Centre. Our Board of Directors represent diverse professional experiences and personal backgrounds and are PASSIONATE about disability services. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, and we do so by providing governance and strategic planning for the operations of Leduc LINX Connect Centre.


A Director term is TWO (2) years from June AGM to June AGM. A Director may serve up to THREE (3) consecutive terms. Once these terms have been completed the Director may step into another Board position.

*You can be appointed as interim between now and June


Leduc LINX Connect Centre is a not-for-profit organization that has provided employment, community access, and residential services to adults and youth with developmental disabilities in the Leduc area since 2008. LINX serves more than 50 individuals, and employs more than 40 staff who provide employment (career) and residential (support homes, respite, outreach) services to clients. LINX is committed to an equitable, diverse, and inclusive Board of Directors, workforce, and volunteer base. 

*Governance training will be provided

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and advice to the Board of Directors including but not limited to; Strategic Planning, and any applicable sub-committee and ad-hoc committees

Participate in monthly Board Meetings through inclusive and respectful dialogue and time management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with community

Review financial documents, act, and sign (when applicable), with fiduciary responsibility

Ensure provincial guidelines are being met, uphold brand standards, and stay abreast of new regulations

Attend fundraising events in the community, and be an outward face of the  organization

Participate in any applicable annual Board Evaluations

Attend 80% of the annual LINX monthly meetings

*reasonable exception can be made with Chair approval and advance notice

Provide a clean Security Clearance Check

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

Will meet the requirements of a Security Clearance Check

Engage in occasional when applicable Board development/training activities

Professional experience in one of the following sectors (current or retired) is considered an asset: accounting/ business, community development, education, healthcare, human resources, and/or legal

Awareness of strategic planning, government funding, and disability services would be an asset

Previous board experience would be an asset (advisory, governance, operational, and/or stakeholder boards)

Keep and maintain confidentiality, including but not limited to the LINX NFP operations, the families we serve, and the strategic operations of LINX Connect Centre

Organized and possesses strong time management skills

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Ability to act with integrity and respect at all times

Age of Majority in Alberta, (18). *Due to the nature of Governance and the legal requirements of a Governing Board of Directors, age is a Bona Fide requirement of the position
