The Celebration & Awards is a full day event – full of wonderful learning opportunities, meeting new friends and sharing ideas! This event is open to everyone – whether your community is a member of Communties in Bloom or not! Everyone is welcome!

The presentations this year focus on volunteers and heritage. We are grateful to Calmar Communities in Bloom for their amazing amount of work organizing and welcoming us into their community!

9AM: Getting Started!   Local tasty treats and beverages will be available

10:15: Keynote Speaker Volunteer Alberta - Recruiting, Retaining & Succession Planning

11:15: Vertical Roots – Small Footprint Farming – Tess Pederson:  Small footprint farming 

12 Noon: Lunch & Trade Show 

1PM: Thinking Outside the Brownfield Box – Tour Calmer’s CAP Park (Calmar Athletic Park) 

2:15PM: Woodland Park – Meet the artist preserving heritage through art 

2:45PM: Keeping Youth Engaged – keeping youth engaged and retained in the community 

4PM: Cocktail Hour & Dart Tournament - Coffee, tea, treats and cash bar 

5PM: Zirka! – Heritage preservation over half a century – the Zirka Dancers 

5:45: Ukrainian Dinner 

6:45PM: Update from Communities in Bloom Alberta – Special Resolution (5-minute meeting) 

7PM: Awards & Celebrations!  Presented by FortisAlberta 

7PM: Close of Silent Auction & Farewells! 

Things to Know! 

This event is a casual dress event - our tour will take us to the Calmar Athletic Park, and through Woodland 

Park.  Wear comfortable shoes, bring a jacket (just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate), and have some fun! 

We are doing a dart tournament during the cocktail hour.  This will be a cash bar, but there will be non

alcoholic beverages available too! 

Silent Auction 

Our silent auction is always a lot of fun, and we always get fabulous items to bid on.   Cash is king, cheques are 

queen, but we will attempt to have the credit card system online this year.  Last year was a problem with 

cellular reception for the system – too frustrating!
