Job description: Tower Rigger - Forman, intermediate and junior riggers (vacancies for Turris locations in Georgetown, ON and Waverly, NS and Wetaskiwin, AB)

Turris Contractors, Inc. A member of the Turris-Group of companies, is looking for resumes of highly motivated and mechanically minded Tower Riggers. Turris Contractors is locally managed in the branches, one branch in located in Nova Scotia. One branch located in Alberta, the last branch one in Ontario.

Under the supervision of a Forman you will be building and maintaining tower structures, antenna, lines, and associated equipment. 

The position requires significant travel within a Canada. You must be comfortable working at heights in all seasons and must have a clean driving record. You are expected, not only to learn and adhere to our existing safety policies but to participate in making us better. Preference will be given to those with previous experience but those with comparable construction backgrounds will be considered for training this includes woman.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to work out of town which may require over night stay. Able to work in both hot and cold outdoor weather conditions. 
  • Perform tower climbing and rigging such as installing antennas, dishes, coax and mounting hardware on towers anywhere from 50’ – 300’ tall. 
  • Coordinate activities with team members to accomplish and complete jobs efficiently. 
  • Complete records and other project related paperwork as required
  • Travel long distances to and from different locations safely. 
  • Work with and around heavy equipment, picker trucks, 
  • Ensure active participation and advocating for all matters safety-related 
  • raise safety awareness
  • provide feedback for pre-job hazard assessments (PJHA’s)
  • participate in safety initiatives
  • report safety discrepancies, and suggest solutions. 
  • Ability to complete and/or assist in the installation of communication towers or rooftop sites .
  • Installation and testing of telecommunication equipment (cellular antennas, microwave antennas, Transmission lines and connectors).
  • Performing general ground procedures, Knowledge of general activities as required for the construction of sites. Reliable and consistently meeting deadlines and handling emergencies. 
  • Adept at dealing with customers, management, and colleagues

MOST IMPORTANT SKILLS NEEDED AT THE MOMENT IS:

  • Valid class 5 Driver's license
  • Acceptable Driver's Abstract

Other Skills:

  • Must be physically fit and can lift 50 lbs. 
  • Heavy lifting. 
  • Manual work and proficient use of installation tools as required. 
  • Understanding of hand tools, and communication testing equipment. 
  • Work outside, at heights or in confined spaces
  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, with the proven ability to communicate with respect and professionalism. 
  • Reliable, 
  • Dependable, 
  • Adaptable and 
  • Flexibility for changing priorities. 
  • Willing to travel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and use of good judgment in response to unexpected problems.

We Will Train for the Following:

  • Fall arrest and protection certification
  • Basic computer skills would be an advantage.
  • Ability to read blueprints would be an advantage
  • Understanding of hand tools, and communication testing equipment.
  • All and any Cert's required will be trained in house.

Expected start date: ASAP

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent: Bi-Weekly Pay,

Salary: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour (depending on experiences)

Health Benefits: RRSP'S : LOA (up to $200.00 a day Covid depended) : Yearly Bonus, (depending on branch sales yearly)
